What led you to work in the field of structural engineering?

I have been interested in structural design for as long as I can remember and always planned on pursuing an engineering degree.  My grandfather was a structural engineer. My dad had an engineering degree as well and introduced me to structures, particularly bridges and trusses, at a young age.

What do you enjoy most about working for Linton Engineering?

I enjoy discovering out-of-the-box solutions to make architectural designs a reality.  I also appreciate learning about and incorporating different structural systems that are not typical in building construction.

How has the firm changed over the years?

LE has added many talented people since I started.  We have increased our level of detail and moved away from 2D drafting in CAD to 3D modelling in Revit, which enables better accuracy and architectural coordination.  The structure of the company has also changed, as we now have teams dedicated to commercial and residential design.

What has been your favorite Linton project and why?

I enjoyed working on the residence in the Arcadia Peninsula because it has a unique structural system consisting of custom girder trusses that allow for expansive open spaces on the first floor as well as large open spaces on the second floor without using steel beams.
